While these studies were not conducted in patients with PCOS, the results support the findings of our review in that an anti-inflammatory diet such as the DASH diet results in improved metabolic markers of insulin resistance, one of the key pathways implicated in PCOS, as well as improved levels of SHBG, thus lowering hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance seen in PCOS. This evidence concerns the gene SHBG and hyperandrogenism.
