MME and gastric cancer: More recently, CD10, which is a brush border protein found only in small intestine (and not in colon) was shown to have excellent sensitivity and specificity for complete IM (87.5–94.9% and 97–100%, respectively) [108]; the same study found that Das1, an antibody to the colon epithelial protein, was associated with both incomplete IM and also with complete IM in patients with concurrent gastric cancer, and therefore may be a biomarker that can predict risk regardless of histological subtype.
