In previous experimental studies in heart failure, for example, miRNA-129-5p (same as miRNA-129-1-5p) [50] has been shown to play a protective role in myocardial cell injury through targeting high-mobility group box-1 (HMGB1) and tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 3 (TRAF3) and thereby ameliorating oxidative stress and inflammatory responses in cardiomyocytes [51,52].
