For Fyn to be able to target the dendritic compartment efficiently, it requires the assistance of Tau, a microtubule-associated protein that has been found to be associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease43,44, a process that is aided by interactions of the SH3 domain of Fyn with Tau, as well as the interaction of the SH2 domain of Fyn with tyrosine-phosphorylated Tau45,46. This evidence concerns the gene FYN and neurodegenerative disease.
