After analysis of miRNA target genes, they ultimately established that GREM1 expression levels were significantly downregulated in osteoblasts from patients with severe AIS, thus indicating that miR-151a-3p may affect bone homeostasis and contribute to the development of AIS by binding to GREM1. miR-151a-3p could be used as a biomarker to predict severe AIS. This evidence concerns the gene GREM1 and androgen insensitivity syndrome.
