Intriguingly, in the CIN+ prostate cancer cell line DU-145, IL-6/STAT3 signaling was found to inhibit STING activity, as these cells were only responsive to the STING agonist 2′3′-cGAMP when IL-6 or JAK/STAT3 signaling was inhibited, suggesting that STING is regulated by IL-6/STAT3 signaling upstream (Suter et al. 2021). The gene discussed is STAT3; the disease is cervical squamous intraepithelial neoplasia.
