HLA alleles comprising a haplotype prevalent in Asia were significantly associated with pancancer risk (e.g., odds ratio [OR] for a DRB1*15:02 allele = 1.12, P = 2.7 × 10–15), and the associations were particularly strong in HBV-related HCC (OR 1.95, P = 2.8 × 10–5). The gene discussed is HLA-DRB1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
