Since classical cadherins share a highly conserved intracellular domain containing both P120 and β‐catenin binding domains [37], CDH11 may experience similar cleavage events as E‐ or N‐cadherin, which are sequentially cleaved by matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs), γ‐secretase, caspase‐3 and calpain [38, 39, 49], and have also been reported to localize in the nucleus of tumor cells [50, 51]. This evidence concerns the gene CDH2 and neoplasm.
