A review of the literature on the use of vedolizumab in IBD suggested that it is effective for induction and maintenance of remission in patients with moderately to severely active UC or CD who have had an inadequate response with, lost response to, or were intolerant to either conventional therapy or a TNF-α inhibitor, and is a first-line alternative to TNF-α inhibitor therapy in UC [56]. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is inflammatory bowel disease.
