Overall, the results from our functional assessments of CABLES1 in adipocytes suggest that the metabolic impairments, as seen in SAT in obesity and T2D, may not be caused by decreased adipocyte CABLES1 levels directly, but rather that decreased levels of this gene could be a consequence of metabolic impairment caused by other factors, but more studies are needed to entangle this. The gene discussed is CABLES1; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
