Using autophagy mutant atg7 and JA biosynthetic mutant spr2, we have discovered that autophagy mutation hardly affects JA synthesis after nematode infection but affects ERF1 expression and protein content (Fig. 5a–d), while the JA biosynthetic mutation spr2 results in compromised expression of key ATGs and autophagosome formation after RKN infection (Fig. 6a, b and Supplementary Fig. 12), suggesting possible crosstalk between autophagy and JA signaling but not JA synthesis.
