RB1 and acute myocardial infarction: Ai et al. (2015) used hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) model to study whether Rb1 has a protective effect on acute myocardial infarction. H/R-induced injury increased ROS concentration in H9c2 cardiomyocytes and MDA levels, a marker of oxidative stress. Rb1 preconditioning effectively reversed the above injury, suggesting that Rb1 can play a cardiac protective role by alleviating H/R -induced oxidative stress in H9c2 cardiomyocytes (Ai et al., 2015).
