Ginsenoside Rb1 and Rd (Myocardial fibrosis): Rb1 (70 mg/kg) decreased cardiac hypertrophy and myocardial fibrosis by attenuating the levels of β-myosin heavy chain (β-MHC), atrial natriuretic factor (ANF), periostin, collagen I, Angiotensin II (Ang II), Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) and Ang II type 1 (AT1) receptor and reducing left ventricular (LV) weight/heart weight ratio and cardiomyocyte cross-sectional area. This evidence concerns the gene NPPA and cardiac hypertrophy.
