Some inflammatory factors [such as interleukin-1 (IL-1), tumor necrosis factor- (TNF) and IL6] enter the central nervous system through humoral or neuronal pathways and disrupt its normal functioning, resulting in the development of mental disorders (57, 58), and these inflammatory factors have also been demonstrated to be associated with the duration and severity of depression (57). The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is psychiatric disorder.
