We recently demonstrated that Aβ38, Aβ40 and Aβ42, total-tau (t-tau) and phosphorylated-tau (p-tau) are detectable in tear fluid, whereas tear p-tau levels were only detectable in SCD, MCI and AD dementia patients, but not in cognitively healthy controls [16]. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Schnyder corneal dystrophy.
