We recently reported that urine biomarkers of kidney tubule health (monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 [MCP-1], alpha-1-microglobulin [α1m], kidney injury molecule-1 [KIM-1], EGF, chitinase-3-like protein 1 [YKL-40], uromodulin [UMOD]) were differentially associated with the risk of kidney failure requiring replacement therapy in persons with diabetes and an eGFR of <60 ml/min per 1.73 m2. This evidence concerns the gene CCL2 and diabetes mellitus.
