Unbiased analysis using EnrichR19 revealed that genes associated with cholesterol metabolism (WP4718), the PPAR signaling pathway (WP3942), nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (WP4396), the metabolic pathway of LDL, HDL and TG, including related diseases (WP4522), fatty acid biosynthesis (WP357), glycolysis and gluconeogenesis (WP534), nuclear receptors in lipid metabolism and toxicity (WP299) and fatty acid beta-oxidation (WP143) were significantly upregulated in infected hepatocytes (Supplementary Data 3). This evidence concerns the gene PPARA and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
