For example, the aggregation of the amyloid β peptide from Alzheimer’s disease, Aβ42, is significantly retarded in the presence of the chaperone DNAJB6 (Månsson et al.,2014a, 2018) and the Aβ42 monomer concentration remains at much higher concentration after the reaction in the presence of DNAJB6 compared to a system with Aβ42 alone (Månsson et al.,2018; Fig. 2a) in the absence of any external energy input. This evidence concerns the gene DNAJB6 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
