SERPINE1 and preeclampsia: There is a two-fold to five-fold higher risk of preeclampsia in primigravida with a family history of preeclampsia.18,19 The risk of preeclampsia is increased in the progeny of a man born from a preeclamptic pregnancy.20 As genes for sFlt-1 are located on chromosome 13, a high risk of preeclampsia is seen in women with trisomy 13.21 Other potentially significant loci associated with preeclampsia include 12q, 2p13, PAI-1, 2q14.2, 9p13, 2p25, and 2p12.22,23
