Virus-encoded RNR genes displayed a significant increase in average abundance along the canal (autumn: R2 = 0.16, p < 0.05; spring: R2 = 0.44, p < 0.0001), consistent with the enhancement of infection dynamics (Fig. 5D), and may be linked to the promoted genome replication process for rapid reproductive assurance.
