NK‐like CD8+ T cells have been described in PB in autoimmune diseases such as lupus (Basu et al, 2009) and celiac disease (Meresse et al, 2006) but also in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (Li et al, 2022) where they are proposed to be the human equivalent of the immunoregulatory Ly49+CD8+ T cells (Li et al, 2022). The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is celiac disease.
