It has been stated that mHtt aggregate positively activates microglia and induces the release of pro-inflammatory mediators such as TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, and IL-8 via NF-κB signaling, with an increase of anti-inflammatory mediators such as IL-4 and IL-10 but at the later stages of HD (Tai et al., 2007; Björkqvist et al., 2008). Here, IL4 is linked to Huntington disease.
