Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is defined by a lack of expression of both estrogen (ER) and progesterone (PgR) receptors as well as human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), and is associated with poor prognosis.The addition of pembrolizumab to neoadjuvant chemotherapy led to a significantly higher percentage of patients with early triple-negative breast cancer having anevent-free survival at 36 months compared with placebo (84.5% vs. 76.8%, hazard ratio for event or death, 0.63; P < 0.001) [9]. This evidence concerns the gene ESR1 and triple-negative breast carcinoma.
