Patients with Type two Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) exhibit impaired insulin-stimulated glucose transport in muscle and fat; many studies have supported the hypothesis that GLUT4 sorting and/or trafficking are impaired in these patients (Bogan & Kandror, 2010; Garvey & Birnbaum, 1993; Garvey et al., 1998; Garvey et al., 1993; Hunter & Garvey, 1998; Livingstone et al., 2022). The gene discussed is INS; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
