In relation to clinical trials, a study in ten elderly acute myeloid leukemia patients with myelodysplasia-related changes (AML-MRCs) using green tea extract associated or not with low-dose of cytarabine (for at least 6 months) showed an increase in CD8+ T-cells, natural killer cells and classical monocytes and a reduction in Treg cells and mRNA expression of TGF-beta and IL4 in bone marrow and/or peripheral blood [123]. This evidence concerns the gene IL4 and acute myeloid leukemia.
