Using isoproterenol (ISO)-induced cardiac hypertrophy in rats, Li et al. [33] demonstrated that hypertrophy-related genes, including atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), and β-myosin heavy chain (β-MHC), and the heart weight/body weight (HT/BT) ratio were increased, which was associated with significantly reduced cardiac function. This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and cardiac hypertrophy.
