Our study suggests a possible role for LGR5 as a potential marker of cancer stem cells in colorectal carcinogenesis in sporadic CRC and in the early molecular events in adenomatous lesions but does not have a role in the maintenance of the status of cell differentiation or in the progression of the CRC, however, expression density was significantly associated with the adenomatous grade and a significant difference was shown between adenoma and carcinoma. This evidence concerns the gene LGR5 and colorectal carcinoma.
