Our experiment is a preliminary study and in order to confirm the existence of the “obesity paradox” in the aspect of bone tissue metabolism and to suggest the existence of a body weight threshold that changes the molecular response of the tissue, the range of determinations needs to be extended to include other biomarkers of bone turnover, e.g., N-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen (NTX), pyridinium crosslinks, total and bone specific alkaline phosphatase and osteocalcin. The gene discussed is BGLAP; the disease is obesity disorder.
