Cognitive stimulation and behavioral therapies are known to be able to induce beneficial effects in FXS and ASD patients (e.g., [24,25,26,29]), as confirmed by pre-clinical studies demonstrating that environmental enrichment can rescue several neurobehavioral FXS- and ASD-like alterations in Fmr1-KO mice [30,31]. The gene discussed is FMR1; the disease is fragile X syndrome.
