With respect to our current data, it is intriguing to note that VEGF (that was found to be released by DMG-Na in our in vitro epidermal model) was previously shown to markedly promote hair growth [75,76,77] and to be involved in mediating the action of minoxidil, one of the few approved anti-alopecia drugs [78], thereby establishing a concept for DMG-Na as a putative new active against hair loss.
