In the RECOVERY platform trial including 4116 patients, where tocilizumab was administrated for participants having a demonstrated clinical evidence of progressive COVID-19 (which was defined as <92% oxygen saturation on room air or receiving oxygen and C-reactive protein (CRP) ≥ 75 mg/L) and compared to standard of care, a 28-day mortality of 29% was observed for patients receiving tocilizumab as compared to 33% for patients receiving SOC (RR 0.86; 95% CI [0.77–0.96]) [57]. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is COVID-19.
