Haugen et al. first experimentally linked the MSH3 with EMAST by showing the loss of MSH3 expression in sporadic CRCs with EMAST, which was further corroborated by in vitro results showing that MLH1- and MSH3-deficient CRC cell lines exhibit instability at several tetranucleotide loci [23]. This evidence concerns the gene MLH1 and colorectal carcinoma.
