TGFB1 and cancer: Apart from TGF-β1 and the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, niclosamide has also been demonstrated to function through oxidative phosphorylation disruption in the mitochondria, which seems to be of particular importance for its anti-proliferative properties in cancer cells [41,42], and has not been yet comprehensibly studied regarding its involvement in fibrosis amelioration.
