Identified in 2001, Trace Amine-Associated Receptors (TAARs—six functional receptors found in humans: TAAR1, TAAR2, TAAR5, TAAR6, TAAR8, and TAAR9) comprise a family of G protein-coupled receptors that are clustered in a chromosomal region associated with schizophrenia [18,19,20]. The gene discussed is TAAR1; the disease is schizophrenia.
