Although a number of investigations in animal models have demonstrated that the CXCL1/CXCR2 and CXCL8/CXCR1 axes promote tumor growth and angiogenesis of several cancer types, including CRC, CXCL1′s significance in human CRC needs to be clarified before this chemokine may be used as a biomarker for this malignancy.
