In the preclinical animal models, Kohanbash et al. demonstrated that the introduction of an IDH-1 mutation in immortalized normal human astrocytes and syngeneic mouse glioma models, or treatment with 2HG, led to a decrease in Signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1), the master regulator of type I and type II interferon responses, leading to the inhibition of C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 10 (CXCL10). This evidence concerns the gene STAT1 and central nervous system cancer.
