S100P and malignant colon neoplasm: Previous work with inhibitors of S100A4 and the closely related S100P fall into the category of small molecular weight inhibitors of transcription such as sorafenib in human osteosarcoma cells [22], calcimycin [24] and the antihelminth niclosamide [23] in model colon cancer systems, all of which directly inhibit Wnt/β-catenin and thereby S100A4-transcription [23,24] or viral-mediated RNA interference in colon cancer cells [63].
