Our findings are consistent with the observations of Santoro et al. [56], who documented elevated HMGB1 levels in tissue and biofluid samples from PD patients, and with the study by Ren et al. [57], which reported a significant increase in HMGB1 mRNA levels in zebrafish larvae following MPTP administration, thus providing further support for our findings. This evidence concerns the gene HMGB1 and Parkinson disease.
