GCG and hyperinsulinism: At this point, these medical societies agree that if the glucose infusion rate (GIR) is higher than 8 mg/kg/min in the first 24 h after delivery (or, according to BAPM, if BGL is <2.0 mmol/L on more than two measurements during the first 48 h of life), a clinical suspicion of hyperinsulinism should be raised and treatment with glucagon should be commenced.
