The observed correlations between the studied factors (HBD-2, HBD-3, HBD-4, LL-37, and IL-10) in the cleft-affected epithelium and connective tissue prove that they are mutually involved via a synergistic manner in the morphopathogenesis of postnatal cleft palate and that both adaptive and innate immune reactions could be involved in it. Here, CAMP is linked to cleft palate.
