IL1B and ischemia: In a porcine model of coronary occlusion and reperfusion, the infusion of anakinra for 15 min before ischemia for 75 min and treatment once a day after ischemia/reperfusion preserved left ventricular ejection fraction, decreased IL-1β levels in the myocardium, reduced infarct size, and attenuated neutrophil influx into the myocardium, confirming the efficacy of the treatment in the large animal model [86].
