The data obtained in our study warrant further evaluation of serum α1PI concentrations and the serum calprotectin-to-S100A12 ratio for their potential diagnostic and prognostic utility in dogs with pancreatitis, particularly when incorporated as additional elements in established clinical scoring systems and when interpreted together with potential risk factors for the development of pancreatitis (e.g., familial or secondary HTG, endocrine disorders, and certain medications). Here, S100A12 is linked to pancreatitis.
