S100A12 and pancreatitis: No differences were seen in serum calprotectin and S100A12 concentrations between groups A and B, but dogs in group A (typical presentation of pancreatitis) had significantly higher α1PI concentrations (median: 1680 mg/L; range: 1011–2428 mg/L) than dogs in group B (atypical presentation of pancreatitis; median: 1327 mg/L; range: 1208–1543 mg/L, p = 0.0110); and a similar trend was seen for serum calprotectin-to-S100A12 ratios (median: 52.4; range: 20.8–84.8 vs. median: 1327 mg/L; range: 1208–1543 mg/L; p = 0.0606) (Table 1).
