The sinapate and lignin biosynthetic pathway has been previously implicated in plant susceptibility to B. cinerea, with the fah1-7 Arabidopsis mutant—impaired in sinapate biosynthesis—found to be highly susceptible to infection following UV-B radiation, whilst the tt4 mutant defective in flavonoid biosynthesis retained UV-B-induced resistance to the fungus [35]. This evidence concerns the gene FA2H and infection.
