However, NOX4 localization was different in non-malignant thyroid tissues, being exclusively intracellular in both lymphocytic thyroiditis (100%: 6/6) and Graves’ disease (100%: 4/4), nuclear and intracellular in goiters (100%: 10/10), and at different localizations in hyperplasias: intracellular (15%: 3/20), nuclear (35%: 7/20), and intracellular and nuclear (50%: 10/20) (Figure 4b). The gene discussed is NOX4; the disease is goiter.
