In the first cohort increased levels of C-reactive protein and/or erythrosedimentation rate was the most diffused laboratory findings at presentation (12 of 23 cases, 52%), followed by increased D-dimer (5/23, 22%), leukocytosis (4/23, 17%) and hypoalbuminemia (3/23, 13%).
