Mechanistically, reduced expression of RARRES2 in TNBC cells increased glycerophospholipid levels and decreased levels of triacylglycerols (TAGs) by regulating the phosphatase and tensin homologue (PTEN)-mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)-sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 (SREBP1) signaling pathway to facilitate the colonization of breast cancer cells in adapting to the brain microenvironment.
