First, our intervention introduced commercially available POCTs for specific bacterial infections (typhoid, group A Streptococcus and S. pneumoniae), specific viral infections (influenza and RSV), and a parasitic infection (malaria) as well as biomarkers associated with bacterial versus other infections (WBC and differential and CRP in blood and leukoesterase and nitrites in urine). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is parasitic infectious disease.
