Although Bourane et al., 2015 reported that ablating ~70% of NPY-lineage neurons had no effect on itch evoked by CQ, we found that synaptic silencing of the NPY cells with TeLC increased CQ-evoked itch, and often resulted in development of skin lesions, presumably secondary to the spontaneous itch-related biting that was also observed. Here, NPY is linked to Pruritus.
