Platelet‐restricted deletion of Gαq and Gα13 proteins (Wettschureck et al, 2001; Moers et al, 2003, 2004; Tiedt et al, 2007), causes a defect in platelet activation by major soluble agonists such as thrombin, ADP or thromboxane A2 (Fig EV1A) resulted in glucose intolerance and loss of glucose‐stimulated insulin release whilst not affecting insulin sensitivity (Fig 3G–I). This evidence concerns the gene GNAQ and Glucose intolerance.
