Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disease, initiated by a reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22 t(9;22)(q34;q11) leading to the formation of the Philadelphia chromosome, containing constitutively active BCR‐ABL1 oncogenic fusion‐protein (Rowley, 1973; Groffen et al, 1984; Konopka et al, 1984). Here, BCR is linked to chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
