The first GWAS in a European population in 2012 demonstrated that HLA-DP rs3117242 (G) was the strongest signal in the HLA region [3]. Another GWAS in Canadian and American populations conducted in 2017 showed that SNPs rs141530233 and rs1042169 at HLA-DPB1 had the largest effect on the risk of developing AAV. Here, HLA-DPB1 is linked to anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis.
